Find your future with us.Introduction:As the advanced central research and development organization of The Boeing Company, Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) provides innovative technologies that enable the development of future aerospace solutions while improving the cycle time, cost, quality and performance of existing Boeing products and services.The Role:As part of BR&T, the Manufacturing Technology Integration (MTI) group is responsible for integrating and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies and processes into the production systems of Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Boeing Defence, Space & Security (BDS) and Boeing Global Services (BGS).As a Material, Process & Planning (MP&P) engineer within BR&T MTI Fabrication Support, you will serve as a trusted business partner to the BCA Fabrication site, Boeing Sheffield. The site uses advanced CNC machining technologies and processes to produce metal machined components for use in Boeing aircraft.The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for advanced metals machining processes, tooling and technologies, and enjoys working in multi-disciplinary and diverse team.Working as an individual or as part of a multiple function group, you will develop and execute projects and tasks to aid the Boeing Sheffield site to meet its business needs in a number of fields including but not limited to:Cost reductionContinuous ImprovementCycle time reductionTool life optimizationProblem solvingProduction hardeningNew process developmentDevelopment, integration and implementation new manufacturing technologiesYou will act as the day to day interface between the site and the BR&T team, attending daily stand ups and meeting. Capturing requirements and documenting formal requests for work from the site to BR&T.Good project management, tracking and time management skills will be required as project and task durations will vary from days to months and may run in parallel.As a member of Boeing‘s MP&P community you will be required to connection across the Boeing Enterprise to access input from stakeholders, subject matter experts (SME’s) and engineering custodians.Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants.Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.Required Qualifications:Have strong knowledge of CNC machine metal machining processes, technologies and systems.Demonstrate significant industry experience and track record, regardless of formal qualifications OR Degree level or above with minimum 2 years experience.Have previously worked as one or any of the following:Manufacturing Engineer (ME)Continuous Improvement (CI) EngineerMaterial, Process & Planning (MP&P) EngineerNC programmerOr similar title in field of metals CNC machiningHave knowledge and experience of integrating and implementing new advanced manufacturing technologies and processes into an existing site.Have strong knowledge and experience of reviewing and optimizing existing manufacturing methods.Have strong knowledge and experience of developing new methods for introduction of new components into site.Have knowledge and experience of process monitoring. Examples include tool wear/life, in machine probing and statistical process control (SPC).Strong knowledge and experience of selecting machining methods, cutting tools, work holding and equipment for use in optimized machining processes.Have experience of use of computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software.Have ability to read engineering drawings and component engineering specification documents.Have knowledge and experience of cross referencing and researching industry and company specific standards and specifications to compare to component drawings and engineering specification document requirements.Have ability to understand typical industry standard manufacturing method and process documentation such as route cards and operation sequences.Have ability to apply industry and company specific problem solving methods and models. Generating root causes, corrective and preventive measures.Have project management and tracking skills per typical industry and company specific requirements.Have knowledge and experience of technical report writing.Have good English speaking and writing skills.
