About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join a major water and wastewater infrastructure project based in Lancaster.Working as part of an integrated delivery team, you will support the commercial management of complex treatment and infrastructure schemes, including wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, process installations, civil engineering works and associated network
infrastructure.This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor with experience in the water sector to play a key role in the successful delivery of essential infrastructure projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, designers, clients and subcontractors, providing commercial support from project inception through to final account.
Key
ResponsibilitiesCommercial ManagementManage the commercial and contractual aspects of projects throughout the project lifecycle.Ensure robust commercial controls are maintained and contractual obligations are met.Identify commercial risks and opportunities and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.Support the successful commercial delivery of projects from pre-construction through to
completion.Contract AdministrationAdminister NEC contracts and ensure compliance with all contractual
requirements.Manage early warnings, compensation events and change control procedures.Provide contractual advice and support to project delivery teams.Assist in managing commercial risk and protecting contractual entitlement.Cost Control & Financial ReportingPrepare and manage project cost forecasts, budgets and cash flow
projections.Monitor project expenditure and financial
performance.Produce accurate monthly valuations, cost reports and commercial reviews.Ensure projects remain within agreed budgets and financial targets.Change ManagementAssess and evaluate variations and compensation events.Negotiate and agree commercial settlements with clients and
subcontractors.Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation to support commercial
recovery.Procurement & Subcontract ManagementSupport procurement activities and subcontractor
appointments.Prepare subcontract documentation and manage subcontract accounts.Assess and certify subcontractor applications and payments.Build and maintain effective relationships with the supply chain.Final Accounts & ClaimsPrepare, negotiate and agree final accounts.Manage claims and support dispute resolution where necessary.Ensure timely project close-out and commercial
completion.Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams.Provide commercial support across multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.Promote collaborative working and high service standards.
Candidate
RequirementsQualificationsDegree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering or a related
discipline.Professional membership or working towards MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent is
desirable.ExperienceMinimum 3 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering sectors.Experience working on treatment works, pumping stations, pipelines, MEICA installations or major infrastructure projects.Strong experience administering NEC forms of
contract.Experience managing subcontractor packages and commercial reporting
processes.Technical KnowledgeStrong understanding of NEC Option A, B, C, D and F
contracts.Knowledge of IChemE Minor Works contracts would be advantageous.Good understanding of commercial management principles within engineering and construction
environments.Familiarity with water industry regulations and project delivery frameworks.
